BlueScope Community Tankover program

BlueScope is excited to introduce the BlueScope Community Tankover.

The BlueScope Community Tankover aims to help restore aspects of community life which have been affected by drought, and show primary school students that they too can help make a difference in their community.

BlueScope will provide a Tankover, to the value of $30,000 each, to ten community groups across Australia .

A Tankover is an audit of the community group’s premises (for example, a clubhouse) by BlueScope Water, and installation of appropriate rainwater harvesting systems to suit the design of the premises and best meet the particular needs of the community group.

For example, a Tankover may be used to install a rainwater tank at a sports clubhouse or help install a rainwater irrigation system for a community garden or park.

We are asking primary schools and local community groups to partner together to demonstrate their commitment to conserving water.

There are two parts to the BlueScope Community Tankover.  Firstly, primary school principals are invited to nominate a local community group to receive a Tankover, taking into consideration the community group’s importance to the school community. Once the nomination has been confirmed by BlueScope Steel, the community group will then be invited to outline how a Tankover would benefit them and the local school community.

The allocation of the ten BlueScope Community Tankovers will be based on both the primary school’s nomination and the community group’s response. The successful community groups will be announced from Term 3 of 2008* and featured on this website.
