BlueScope Tank A Day Challenge

Following the fantastic response to the Tank A Day Challenge in its first year, BlueScope Steel is proud and excited to announce the next phase of the program. A further 200 rainwater tanks will be on offer for primary schools - that’s one rainwater tank for every school day of the year - PLUS there are some new elements to the Tank A Day Challenge, the Community Tankover program and Rainchaser Awards.

The BlueScope Tank A Day Challenge aims to help Australian primary schools kick start their water saving journey and educate students about the importance of conserving our precious natural resources.

Primary school students who participate in the Tank A Day Challenge will learn about the water cycle and the importance of rainwater harvesting, conservation and management.

It’s easy to take up the Challenge. Principals register online and outline why water is important to your school, then encourage students to complete the educational Rainchasers water saving quiz for the opportunity to receive a 27,000 litre Pioneer GALAXY® rainwater tank.

Five successful schools will be announced each school week* from 2 September 2008 on this Tank A Day website and the TODAY show on Channel Nine.

Successful schools that receive a rainwater tank will be able to:

  • Use harvested rainwater for watering flower beds, gardens and vegetable patches, cleaning and a host of other uses
  • Minimise stormwater run off into the local eco-system
  • Reduce their use of mains water
  • Reduce their water bills
