Frequently Asked Questions – BlueScope Community Tankover
What is the BlueScope Community Tankover?
Under the BlueScope Community Tankover program BlueScope Steel is inviting primary schools to nominate a local community group to be considered to receive a ‘Tankover’.
BlueScope will provide ten Tankovers to the value of $30,000 each to community groups across Australia.
What is a Tankover?
A ‘Tankover’ is an audit of the community group’s premises by BlueScope Water and installation of appropriate rainwater harvesting systems to suit the design of the premises and best meet the specific needs of the community group. Subject to the design of the premises, a Tankover may include installation of guttering, downpipes and a rainwater tank.
Why is BlueScope extending the Tank a Day Challenge into the community?
Many areas of Australia have been affected by drought and water shortages. The BlueScope Community Tankover Program aims to help restore some of the aspects of community life that have been affected by the drought.
The BlueScope Community Tankover program aims to encourage improved water-saving practices in the community and give primary school students another opportunity to learn how they can help improve and protect their local community from the broader effects of drought.
Who is eligible to take part in the BlueScope Community Tankover Program?
Community groups are eligible to be nominated for a BlueScope Tankover if they are not-for-profit organisations, are recognised by the local council and play an integral part in the community. The group must also have dedicated premises (e.g. club house) fit to receive a Tankover.
How does the BlueScope Community Tankover program work?
Under the BlueScope Tankover program, primary school principals are invited to register and then to nominate a local community group to receive a Tankover. The principal must demonstrate the importance of the nominated organisation to the school community, and the involvement of students in making the nomination.
Once BlueScope has confirmed the principal’s nomination, the community group will be alerted via email to go to www.tankaday.com.au and outline how the Tankover would benefit to them and the local community.
If selected for a Tankover, will the community group be responsible for contributing to the cost of the Tankover?
BlueScope Water will work with each successful community group to develop a Tankover to the value of $30,000 which meets the specific requirements of the community group, the design of the community group’s premises, and provides the optimal water management result.
BlueScope Water will commence the Tankover with a thorough audit of the community group’s premises. If BlueScope Water identifies any work required to the premises to maximise the benefit of the Tankover that is outside the scope of the Tankover, then this will be the responsibility of the community group.
BlueScope Water will consult with community group representatives at each stage of the Tankover
If my community group is successful, will I be able to choose my Tankover?
BlueScope Water will work with each successful community group to develop a Tankover to the value of $30,000 which meets the specific requirements of the community group, the design of the community group’s premises, and provides the optimal water management result.
If my community group is selected to receive a Tankover, how long will it take for the Tankover to be completed?
BlueScope Water will work with representatives of each successful community group to develop a plan and timetable that works best for the community group and for BlueScope Water.
Is there any ongoing maintenance associated with the Tankover?
BlueScope Water will keep each community group informed during the Tankover and will advise of any ongoing maintenance required.
How much will my community group save on water bills with the Tankover?
Each Tankover will be different, as each Tankover will depend on the design of the community group’s premises, the needs of the community group, and the optimal water management result able to be achieved within the available budget.
When does the BlueScope Community Tankover Program start and finish?
